Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students

Dr. Danny Glassmann standing outside smiling. Dr. Danny Glassmann (he/him/his); joined San Francisco State University in February 2019 and is a member of the Student Affairs & Enrollment Management (SAEM) executive council and serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students.  In this capacity, Dean Glassmann provides institutional leadership and vision for student life on campus that supports student access, learning, and success.  Dean Glassmann advances the educational mission of the University and supports Graduation Initiative 2025 by providing leadership for co-curricular programs and activities that foster student development and success, enhance student engagement opportunities, improve the quality of campus life, facilitate student’s holistic integration into University life, and promote positive campus climate.  Dean Glassmann is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the Division of Student Life, which includes the Office of the Dean of Students, Student Conduct, Student Activities & Events, Career Services & Leadership Development, New Student Programs, Residential Life, and Campus Recreation.  In addition, Dean Glassmann serves as the day-to-day administrative liaison to Associated Students and serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator and DHR Administrator.

Prior to SF State, Dean Glassmann served in various leadership positions at a number of institutions across the Southeast, which include the roles of Associate Dean of Students at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life at Oglethorpe University, Assistant Director of Residence Life and Multicultural Center at Elon University, and also worked in the Office of Staff Development and Student Conduct at the University of Georgia.

Dean Glassmann’s professional background includes diverse experience with a wide range of student life and success areas, including but not limited to residence life, student conduct, student activities, Greek affairs, orientation, leadership development, and multicultural programs and services.  Dean Glassmann is also involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), National Association of Student Personnel Administration (NASPA), International Ombudsman Association (IOA), International Association of Student Affairs and Services (IASAS), Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA), and Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals.

As a first-generation college student from rural Northeast Arkansas, Dean Glassmann is a proud graduate of the University of Central Arkansas (Go Bears!) where he received his Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Masters of Science in College Student Personnel Services and Administration and The University of Georgia (Go Bulldogs!) where he completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Student Personnel Services.

When he is not attending campus and athletic events (Go Gators!), Dean Glassmann enjoys traveling and exploring the San Francisco Bay area, staying active, and spending time with friends, family, and his fur baby Cooper.
