Case Management

Gator Care is the case management services that provides support to San Francisco State students experiencing heightened and ongoing needs. Utilizing a strength-based approach, Gator Care focuses on empowerment and connecting students experiencing mental, emotional, and social challenges to a network of on-campus and community resources

Promoting students’ well-being and success through coordinated care and intervention services. 

  • Works with any SF State student who may need or want care and support 
  • Centers problem solving and learning for student support 
  • Create individualized care plans based on student needs 
  • Assists in building students’ understanding of campus and community resources  
  • Support students develop and/or strengthen their support systems 
  • Nurture student agency and sense-of-self 
  • Provide advocacy and referrals 
  • Submit a report to alert our Gator Care team.  
  • The report will be assigned to the most appropriate team member for follow-up.  
  • We will keep the report anonymous, but students are often more open to this referral if you let them know that someone will be reaching out to them. 
  • Any faculty, staff, student, parent, family, or community member who has a concern about a student and wants to connect them to additional support.

Case Management is not a substitute for counseling or mental health services, however, having the attention of a dedicated administrator may be the necessary touchpoint for a student to more clearly identify which resource they may benefit from in the short term.
